Amor Fati: The love of one’s fate.
Rahagir: Wayfarer, a passerby
There is a certain power in taking control and losing control in your lives. Taking control over our own lives is doable, but do we have control over our fate? The whole topic of fate sounds so unscientific right! It is! I would not claim a scientific fact where there isn’t and this blog, Rahagir is not about science. Just like I am not just a product of science, and neither are you or the world. I will thus follow a path that has been taken before, an unscientific one, to understand life and its complexity.
To understand this concept, we need to understand Amor Fati! I have always been in love with the concept of Amor Fati. It is not just the love of your own fate but an acceptance and losing control. It is believing that some things in life would just not make sense sometimes. Like the job you think you would be a right fit for, but you would not receive that. Just like the thing, you feel you should have by now, but for some reason you just dont have it. It is that mystic, unknown force that helps you accepting the things you don’t understand, helps you fall back guilt-free into a familiar space, and lets you be at peace with conflicts within you. It’s knowing that everything that didn’t happen correctly is not just product of our wrongdoings.
I hope you understand me correctly. Amor fati is not an excuse to be lazy, not doing things in time, making mistakes, or doing wrong. It’s not losing control of your lives where you shouldn’t. Amor fati is trying your best, doing everything in the best way possible, and accepting that the results might not be in your control. It is to accept this fact, that you are not in control of all your results and yet move ahead, try more, and be better than before.
And that is what I have done, trying to understand Amor Fati, trying to love my own fate and that is where I have stumbled on Rahagir.
Rahagir is an alter ego of me, who understands that. Rahagir is a better version of me, not superior, just better. It lets me accept the way fate works, the way life works, and lets me move on from disappointments in life. Rahagir makes me a better person.
Rahagir for you are my thoughts in the way I have figured out life and how I make peace with my fate. What Rahagir does better is that it lets you see my words unprejudiced from how you know me. I hope you take this journey of loving your own fate with Rahagir as I have done with it. I hope you depend on him to find something meaningful for yourself during this journey. I hope you find a version of Rahagir for yourself. One who passes by, stops, admires, falls, still moves on, and doesn’t regret.
