Factfulness isn’t just any book, it’s a way of life. I have been struggling with accepting news from media for long now. It makes me uncomfortable knowing that we haven’t developed at all, or that there is sadness and misery everywhere. The positivity in my head refuses to accept that everything is so negative. Factfulness isn’t really a thought for the day or a positive quote to make me feel better, it’s a system to make people like me understand it’s not really that negative out there.

The world is a much better place than before, something that we all know deep down, something that we listen, hear and feel everyday and still chose to ignore. The book is an easy read, an easy explanation of thoughts the author has on the world. He puts it sometimes in a rude way comparing with chimps, but by the end of the book you realize this frustration because you feel that with yourself. How could you not know this?

Factfulness is Hans Rosling experiences while working with the world and statistics in a nutshell. He provides ways to see beyond the usual if you are really concerned about the world. It dares you to not act when surprised with a fact but to analyse it and reach to a opinion.

I think Factfulness is essential for everyone to read. It does not really pushes you to do a thing or to reject something else. It helps you make a critical thinker of facts. It helps you understand the world is ok, and you can feel ok about it. You do not necessarily have to worry about it 24 hours, start blaming people and create a havoc when it is unnecessary. It forces us to think of a world which we have created in our biases which is old, not representative and moreover false. The true world is a better place and yet has the potential to become something amazing if we look at it with the right perspective.

If you are a person concerned about the world, Factfulness is a must read. It helps you identify where you should focus your emotions, care and empathy for the world. It makes you beware of the facts that have been manipulating us. It makes us smarter about news that reaches us.
